Hey all,

I've left it quite late to find out about this but do you know if you have to be with BT to get Sky Digital? I'm on Telewest at the moment with 4mb broadband and i don't really wanna downgrade to BT's 2mb considering i could have upto 10mb with Telewest.

Also will i be able to get Sky HD on the normal boxes or are they bringing out a brand new Skybox for that?

Cheers,

Aaron

p.s i have checked all over the website but i could only find the stuff about sky talk with BT and i didn't know if that affected anything.

We just phoned up to cancel Telewest subscription so we could join Sky and they started listing all the deals they could make us to keep their service. Now my mum's not sure and want's to stay with Telewest more than going to Sky.

Has anyone here had any problems with their Sky Box before and had to get it repaired without the 1 years insurance? If so how much was it?

Sorry peeps but we need to call before 8pm. I can't see it really being too expensive but i'd just like to know if anyones had a fault before and how much it costs.

My dads had it for 2 years and nothings gone wrong but i just would have liked to of known before ordering.

Also i'll probably go HD before the warranty even runs out anyway.

Cheers

box costs well under £100 to replace new.

Dish goes off alignment- I pay £20 for a guy to come out with a meter.

LNB needs replacing- £15 on ebay.

Cable shot? 50p or so a metre.

So yeah, the warranty plan is pretty much useless.

why dont you just wait for telewest to go to HD ?

as far as i am aware though sky call out for one of there techs is £75 or so.

muvver above obviously knows someone who does it for him :)

BTW BT broadband will be upping their speeds to 8Mb soon if that makes a difference to anything.

Only if your phone line is good enough, I'd personally stick with Telewest.

Sky is too expensive for what you get, plus it's an extra £10 a month for Sky+ if you want that. I don't know how much HD is going to cost, probably at least £10 a month plus a new box.

If I could get cable, I'd switch straight away.

Edit:
Current Sky HD Prices:
Box = £299 :eek:
Plus a £10 monthly subscription
