I've been a long standing 20Mbs service holder so i still pay the full amount for it. Not that it's to much but.

This is my speed.

This is what is in my router.

Your latency is pretty poor. My download speeds were always poor with Sky but had a good ping. Also, there is no way you should be paying full price. I had unlimited broadband but as I was only getting half the speed I rang up and said I would only pay the 10Mb price.

My Sky has been poor for years, when the 20Mbs was first out i used to get around 12 to 15mbs.

I used it as a backup only now, i may well drop it down to the 10mb package as there is no point to the 20mb one.

There's nothing wrong with Sky LLU. It's an up to 20Mb/s package. You folks need to read up on ADSL. :)

You will never get your full sync speed on a speedtest. I'm on 6496kbps down and will always get 5.30Mb/s on the speed tests.

It's called overhead :)

I'm with VM, and have the 20mbps package. My results:

I never get the full 20mbps because of these overheads, but using overheads as a reason for getting 7.30Mbps when you should be getting 20mbps~ is not acceptable.

This is whilst my stupid sister buffers 3 720p videos on youtube.

I'm on the 20mb Package and I get about 3Mb/s download at night, I want to move but were on the stupid 12 month contract.

Help? I don't get all this networking shazam, this is wireless on my laptop.

The kindest way to put it is the post was comedic, of course i should be getting better bandwidth it was obvious if i was getting 15mbs before then my line is capable of that.

Sky are and will forever be ripping people off.

What?

I've pretty much always get full sync speed on speed tests. Here's one I just did:

And this is my modem info:

53000000 bps is 6.318MB/s so that speed test is spot on.

He was referring to ADSL sync and overheads in the technology. Cable is done differently so the same rules don't apply.

Cable speed tests in an ADSL post...chalk and cheese guys

ADSL speed determined by line length from exchange and quality

Cable determined by cabinet subscription and not usually affect by line length.

If your getting slow ADSL speed check your line length and attenuation, there is no point
Blaming your provider who ever it is until you understand how ADSL works.
There's plenty of sites you can put this info into to determine you estimated speed.
also check internal setup.

Closer = faster
0 - 1mile - headline-16mb
1 - 2m - 16-10mb
2 - 3m - etc etc

Unless your on the sky connect package, I personally find their unlimited package good value for money, £7 50 for
no download limit and no speed throttling, just my opinion though.

That's how close i am, so your theory has just blown. ;) Rubbish value. Did i not say i used to get 15mbs. I was paying £15 for unlimited haha 20mbs.

I've got rid of it now best thing i've ever done after 12 years.

My other half whilst inbetween jobs in the states, did whole networks for companies, that's where some of his interests are, so normally i just ask him.

Oh yeah whilst downgrading the bb they lost all my HD channels and 24 hours later i still haven't got any, now skys whole system is down.
