Sorry Mods I hope this is the right place (there doesn’t seem to be a suitable section & the search didn’t bring up anything) :)

I’ve just downloaded & installed Sky Anytime on my pc after seeing their ad on their website, we currently are subscribed to all sky’s top packages movies, sports etc, all I can say its awesome at the moment I’m downloading Rebound legally :D & watching football highlights, all free of charge.

Surely there has to be some sort of catch? Is it also possible to watch live sky sports football/cricket matches?

What are you views & thoughts on Sky Anytime?

In answer to your 'live' question. The answer is no.

I also think that downloaded movies have to be watched in a certain time frame before they are automatically deleted.

This from SKY's website:

Sky Anytime on PC securely delivers content via the internet, using both direct and peer-to-peer distribution. Once the file has been downloaded, Microsoft Digital Rights Management (DRM) software will prevent unauthorised viewing and will automatically delete the file from your PC once your license to view it expires.

Ah so you don’t actually stream any live content? Its all downloads & highlights?

I believe you have to be subscribed to Sky as I had to input my viewing card & parental number upon signing up, if you don’t subscribe to any package i.e. movies & sports you would have to pay for the content viewed & downloaded I think it stated £5pm for movies & £4pm for sports.

Edit: Ive just finished downloading Rebound & its a 30 day viewing period.

It also install a P2P service on your pc so other users can download things you have downloaded from you.
You can't stop it running, but I just block it with Zone Alarm. I pay enough for Sky as it is, so I don't need them using my internet connection as well. :p

I tried it but found all the movies to be really poor quality. They say it's the same as DVD but it's not even close.

Im annoyed with it.
Stuff like Stargate costs me to download, and theres no download buttons, just 'pay per view' or 'bookmark'.
Even though we have the full sky package!

I used it back when it was called Sky By Broadband, don't know if it still does, but it wacked some hidden (yeah it was prolly mentioned in the t&c) p2p ap which used up a lot of cpu cycles and maxed out the internet's upload, causing everything to run to a crawl.

Thanks for that, but where is the download link on that page?

Edit: If i click onto 'Transporter 2' all i get is the option to bookmark it?

Signed up and it's awesome.

Can you use this away from home, like at uni? Or are they strict on where you can access it from.

Please don't tell me they let you download entire films for free???

This is insane, even if you only get x amount of days to watch them it's still awesome.

This service definitely has potential, especially if it offered films in HD and at faster download rates.

The reason you cant download, or theres no download button is because your firewall, or something else, is blocking it.
I enabled the ports listed in the FAQ for it in Sygate, and its working fine now.
Unfortunatelly its dog slow and all the good stuff, like Stargate, is PPV!

No, not for me, it was the fact that i hadn’t added 'Sky Anytime' as a service in 'My Sky' at sky.com

Edit: Phew that was a mouthful...
