On the 19th of this month, my BB will be switched over to SKY.

I am going to be using my own router, cos of a coupel of reasons, firstly that I am on a Gigabit LAN, but also that I have bought my Router a few weeks ago, and it was just shy of 200 notes and so naturally, I dont want to waste so much money.

Now, of course, the firtst hing that I could do, is simply upgrade my 5 port switch to an 8 port and have done with it and sure, this would on teh surface solve teh issues, but then the Router I bought, I bought for several reasons, and one of them is mainly that I have absolutely and complete control over anyone and anything that connects to my network.

For example, my daughters PC has access up to 12am and then she gets cut off, but her iphone has 24hr access.
My eldest son has access up to 10pm on his XBOX and 11pm on his phone, and so on and so forth.
I havbe found this kind of silly thing to be so useful, that I am going to struggle to do without, plus I hve the AICloud in use and thats a near-perfect thing for me, that I now have setup in my phone, and my tablets.

So, simply doing without the Router is not really an option.

Now, I have looked on the internet abotu getting my username and password from teh router, but the router I have, is a black one that does not seem to be in any list that I have read up on, and so I am not knowing what I am really to do?

When I went with SKY, the whole Idea that I told them right from the start is that this is what I will be doing and I have explained teh reasons why I want to use my router and they accepted this, and they said that the only need for the router, was for problem solving should the need arise, and so if anythign does go iffy, I can simply connect the sky ne back up while the issue is sorted cant I?

So, can anyone help me out here?

Thanks in advance etc.

What make of router have you got as it must support --> • MAC encapsulated routing (RFC 1483 MER), if not it will not work.

Not 100% true
I use PPPOA on my connection ,have extracted my username and password and have been using 3rd party adsl routers for years
Not ALL sky enabled exchanges will allow PPPOA but a lot do :)

Yes for adsl but not Sky Fibre it must support • MAC encapsulated routing (RFC 1483 MER), if not it will not work on Fibre.
