.... ordered broadband as well as TV and phone - in a brand new house so Openreach had to come and stick us a line in. Connected up to a Sky LLU exchange. All went fine until our broadband went active back end of last week - plugged the router into the master socket and got an instant sync of 4093 down and 604 up.

And it's still exactly the same after best part of half a week.

Just come off the phone to Sky and they assure me that there's no cap on the line, testing is being done to find the best speed (they estimate 10mb+ - downstream attenuation is bang on 40db) but I check numerous times every day and the router has never sync'd at anything other than 4093.

So is this normal, or am I right in thinking I should be seeing the router trying to sync at different speeds?

In what sense do you mean "trying to sync at different speeds"? The sync rate might fluctuate a bit, but it'll arrive at the fastest speed it can achieve for the given target SNR margin. There's no trial and error involved per se.

Edit: As feriso, post the rest of the stats from the router.

Stats posted above....

sync rate hasn't budged from 4093 since day 1.

You will be on DLM for 10 days if your on a llu product. It starts the line off slower and increases it over a 10day period but can take longer. Dont switdh the router off or reboot it lots. This happens to all new customers on our llu system. And it doesnt always show your capped on the system just that dlm is in progress and this cannot be suspended untill its over 15 days.

Okay doke - thanks for the info.

Just a case of hanging on and seeing what happens in a week or so's time :-)
