Hi there.

I just noticed that Sky has Enabled LLU at my Exchange.

Im currenty with Zen paying £34.99 getting 4320 kbps with these Stats.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4320 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 47 db 13 db
Noise Margin 8 db 25 db

Should I expect any more by Switching to Sky LLU 16mb Package?

Well, first of all. It depends how far you live from the exchange. Second, depends how much your line can handle.

Im on a 16mb connection, but my line can just about reach the 12mb.

Odds are you wouldn't get much more than you're already getting - there's a calculator in the sticky too (and it reckons you'd get much the same).
You'd probably gain a little from not being tied to the 512kbps steps in IP profile as well though.

Well today I got my Mac Code from Zen and I ordered Sky Max 16mb.

Im a little sad leaving Zen, as they are a great isp, great Support, No downtime, but They cant compete with £10 a month for ADSL2 from Sky.

Ill tell you what speeds I get when i get activated.

Be careful of sky...

I got one friend who got sky in FEB, has only just last week finally managed to get it connected and 2 days later went on holiday... Got back to find that they have gone over their CAP and have been crippled till *** end of the month???

WTF????

They only had the router connected, and Windows' own updates took them over their cap???

Highly doubtful FatRakoon - I know for a fact Sky dont (at present) continuously monitor their customers downloads. They certainly wouldn't throttle anyones connection.

Surely it would make more business sense if a customer has exceeded their FUP to increase the specific package that customers is on rather than simply throttling or disabling their connection?

Perhaps that the impression you get, but thats only one of a number of people I know locally that are getting Capped, crippled, or simply kicked off for any number of reasons.

Could be down to a number of things Il admit, but around here, no one that I know of, who has Sky, is completely happy, they have all had some issue of another.

Actually you're both right. If you aren't on an unbundled LLU going through Sky equipment, then they do monitor and cap even the "unlimited" packages (fair use terms). If you are on max on a sky LLU then you'll have trouble hitting the cap. (Trust me, I've tried - excess of 500Gb in a month).

unless the guy is on base with a 2gb limit and hadnt updated windows in a Long time thats unlikely. Even then when you over you get an email and thats if they even notice. It's hardly monitored.

What is monitored strictly is spam email, if he phones sky and they say their is abuse then thats a whole new issue.
