can sky restrict my speed upon my request, people taking the mickey and i want my connection restricted enough to throttle online gaming etc ?

thanks in advance for any advice

Tier one probably won't be able to but sure, your speed can be restricted. The only problem is their DLM can only be switched off for 2 weeks at a time, it comes back on automatically after that so even if your speed was capped, two weeks later the speed would likely increase again.

Online games generally use very little bandwidth compared to other activities, so restricting the speed of your connection probably isn't going to stop them.

Either use parental controls or just talk to them about not doing so much online gaming...

Im on Post Office and I have an ASUS Router and I can honestly say that when my eldest son is playing on his XBOX, the internet dies a slow and painful death.

Im on a very solid 9.8Meg connection and the internet is absolutely flawless until he starts the XBOX up, and then trying to watch Youtube or catchup on ITV or BBC Player etc, ends up with the bloody circle thingy coming up every few seconds and TV is completely unwatchable.
( What makes this even more irritating is that I have setup a Media Centre PC that uses the bloody arial and so does not require the internet and yet the family still insist on using the bloody ITV Player all the time???? )

If you have the Asus, why not setup QoS properly then so his gaming traffic takes least priority? 9MB is more than enough to stream TV and game (as long as he's just gaming and not download a huge DLC or something as part of the game)

I would've thought the TV streaming would disrupt his gaming more than the other way round.

This. As someone who used to play a lot of Forza .... Xbox is likely getting QoS preference. If it wasn't then multiplayer would start lagging very badly as soon as someone else on the same connection starts using YouTube/Netflix and using the majority of the bandwidth.
