Sky box question

My mum has Sky multiroom

The main box is Sky+, the second is just normal Sky

Today, she had a Sky+HD box in the post to replace the Sky+ box.

All setup and installed, can I now take the old Sky+ box and replace the normal Sky box with it?

yes i did that when my dad upgraded to hd and i took the old plus box

but u might need to pair them to the card and u might need a second cable wired from dish to the sky normal box room though

Any reason why she got the hd box? Had she ordered it or did they just send it as an update?

Yes you can connect it up. yes you'll need to call Sky to tell them. yes you can pause, rewind and record the channel you're watching/the channel the box is tuned to but you will not be able to record one channel and watch another without a second feed from the dish.

You'll need a quad LNB and another feed from the dish to have the full functionality (record one channel whilst watching another) of the 2nd Sky+ box.

Alternatively a Destacker will do the same thing without the need to run another wire to your second Sky+box.
