Recently got Sky Broadband unlimited, and getting an OK speed of 7mb but in online games I am getting quite a high ping of 50-80. I've heard that the reason for that is because of interleaving. Is there a way to get them to turn it off or will I lose stability?

On Sky Broadband here, have been for a year and now my contract is up. Been experiencing the same of yourself, poor ping in Battlefield 3 (over 150) so I'm moving to BT. I must say I never looked into interleaving, Sky's router is reason enough for me to leave, however give them a call and you can get them to change your latency profile.

You need to ask them to put you on the gamer profile on adsl2+ and have your max delay reduced to 8, this should get you a 30ish ping. My line was stable enough for for adsl2+ so be warned so I'm back on adsl1 (G.DMT). When I was with o2 befoeI moved house I would get a 18 to 25 ping to uk servers :D but at £7.50 a month I think sky is good value despite not being a gaming isp.

@skatybird,think you will regret the BT move when o2/be is far better and you speak to english speaking customer services unlike BT's broken english ones. I'd rather have Talk Talk over BT but thats just sour grapes on my behalf but thats me.

@Rizo, BT do offer fastpath but you have to speak to the right department and thats hard enough, I did like fastpath on BT on even interleaving on with o2 was giving a similar ping.

Just ask Sky to put you on gaming profile. It'll knock 24ms off your ping and bring it down to around 25-30ms, which is fine for gaming.
