I'm in a house at the moment and they've got Sky Broadband with a D-Link router, the connection is fast, 10mbit+, however, for some reason it starts disconnecting or finds it hard to multitask.

For example, downloading, and try to load a website and then the connection starts to disconnect, or if I'm on Usenet, for some reason the connection grinds to a halt, even when It does get going, I throttle it to 500kbps and websites are still crawling.

About 15 mins ago Spotify was just constantly disconnecting, I'm not sure what's going on.

Are these known problems with Sky, or is it the router?

Thanks.

Sky have some real issues with oversubscription at the moment. We get it here, speed is 21 meg down and 1.1 up but at certain times it grinds to a halt. Spoke to Sky and they have said that Openreach keep putting back the date that they can upgrade their equipment in the exchange to cope - Sky DO have fibre here though and want customers to upgrade to that....
Before thinking the router is at fault I'd be inclined to make sure that the cabling/wiring and the filter are all in good order as that could cause these issues. Go direct to the test socket and remove any other equipment and see if it still happens...
