Moving into our student house shortly and we need to get internet sorted.

Pretty much set on getting sky TV anyway but not sure about their broadband. Have to pay £10 p/m looking at their site, but do you have to pay BT line rental on top of that as well? Also know you need to have BT landline installed for £125 but apparently they reimburse you this.

Looked at bethere and I can see I can get £40 quidco cashback and only £8p/m for the rest of 2008.

Just wondered what would be the better deal and wondered if Sky would do a better deal if we took on the broadband as well.

O2 ADSL2 (using the same network as Be) is £7.50 a month, if you go through our resident O2 member by the name of "z0mbi3" (see the main O2 broadband thread). Of course like all ADSL it requires a BT line.

o2 over sky for the net on max is £2.50 different if you get a discount from zombie.

£10 sky max upto 16mb
£7.50 for what the max the line can offer from o2

Avoid Be like the plague or AIDS.

I, and many others at 3 or 4 exchanges in South London have been receiving a massively substandard service for over 6 weeks now.

At peak times my connect speeds are less than 1 meg - I pay for a 24 meg service!

Their attitude about this is pretty poor - they never contacted to apologise about the issue, it was only when I went to their support site that I saw there was a known issue at my exchange.
They have made no offer of a refund or discount, and have just told me that if I want to go to another supplier it will cost me £40.

Meanwhile I pay £18\month for a broadband service that I can't even use to watch BBC iplayer or download podcasts through itunes...

Which exchanges are affected out of interest? What was the nature of the fault?

Yes please am very interested.

My be connection is also stupidly slow for browsing atm, sometimes web pages just won't load, and browsing has remained slow for over a month now.

Im connected to the Balham exchange.
