Sky broadband router help

Hi

I have a sky q hub on sky superfast and the connection over wifi drops for around 10 seconds to a minute evey so often and signal strength to some rooms is poor.

I was thinking of upgrading to sky ultrfast, as I believe I get the new Sky Broadband router (please correct me if wrong) as I believe the higher bandwidth and better router will really help.

Is there a way of working out what is causing the drop out problem? I have a lot of wifi devices connected, mainly wifi plugs, would that cause an issue?

Also, if I was to buy the new sky broadband router, would I be able to use that with my current setup to perhaps resolve the issue?

Any help or guidance would be gratefully received

Q hub is easily the worst isp supplied router I've ever used and caused me nothing but issues.

When I was with Sky, among other issues with the hub, I had the exact same thing with the wifi. Even in the same room, signal would go from full strength, to just nothing for a few seconds, before back to full strength. I don't have many wifi devices, only a phone and tablet, everything else was wired.

Got rid of the Q hub and all my issues went away.

i moved from SKY to VodaFone and have disabled the wi-fi on the router, and use Eero Mesh system around my house. Its excellent, especially as some Mesh and boosters etc. can be ****.

Hi Mate.

Ive just bought some Eero 6+'s on the black Friday deal...

Plugging the Eero gateway into my Vodafone THG3000 router and I cannot pair my Eero when using the app.

Reading online for answers it turns out that you would need to set the router into bridge mode - Which with this router it is not possible. I then read you need to enable DMZ in the expert settings.

Is this what you done? And is it safe as its saying on the router you will lose your firewall? What setting do I need to DMZ?

I thought these mesh units were supposed to be easy to setup, turns out they aren't

You don’t need the THG3000 router anymore. Just connect the Eero directly to the box on the wall and enter your login credentials and it will work as Amazon claim.

The problem is. I can't even pair to the Eero. Its just flashing a blue light and the app can't pair. What the hell is going on?

Tried plugging the Eero straight into the FTTP box on the wall. Still no joy pairing?

1. Factory reset the Eero.
2. Delete whatever app you have on your phone
3. Contact Vodafone support on chat and ask them if you need a username and password (you usually do). Get them to email these to you then cut and paste them into the Eero once you have it up and running.

4. Re-install the Eero app
5. With the Eero connected to the ONT and NOT connected to power, get the Eero app to the place where it’s looking for the first Eero device.
6. Now plug in the Eero and the app should find it… eventually. Just leave it for a couple of minutes.

OK thanks for that. I'll give it a go

Check your email from when you ordered Vodafone broadband, chances are you already have your username and password as they have started sending them out without needing to be asked.

Sorry mate, I’m not 100% sure.

I just connected my router to the main eero unit (one with Ethernet) and disabled Wi-Fi on the router and I connect everything to my eero “network”.

Isn’t the flashing blue “pairing mode”?

Have you downloaded the app to help setup @deansham ?

Got my log in credentials from Vodafone along with my VLAN number.

Tried following this to the letter, but still not working.

Still couldn't get it to pair!

Phoned Eero helpline this morning and he was useless, fobbed me off and said I'd need to phone my ISP. Phoned them up again this afternoon and the guy was awesome. Had me connect my Eero to my Vodafone router and had to give him the serial number for each of my Eero's and he had me all set up in 10 minutes.

Very strange why I couldn't pair, even after factory resetting the Eero!

ahh good. glad its working now mate.

how you finding them? I think they perform really really well.
So far so good.

I am on the vodafone 100mb connection which is plenty fast enough for our usage.

The vodafone wifi router was fine for signal strength in the house (4 bed detached) we would have the odd drop out on wifi now and then for some reason. But now I have had solar installed on my house with the solar inverter installed in the garage, the wifi signal was very weak to the wifi on the inverter. Approx 4-8mb download... now I'm getting 50mb so happy with that!
