Hi there,

Is anyone else on Sky having the same issues as me?

The router always seems to drop the connection sporadically. I can't seem to pin it down but it does it at least 3 times a night, I've checked all internal cables and wires etc and it's fine.

My next door neighbour was having the same issue. He changed his router to the old Linksys one and everything is working fine...

Should I give this a go and see if that solves the issue or get onto Sky and see if there's a line fault?

(Been happening for a few months and we both had the Netgear DG834GT router)

Any advice will be appreciated!

Thanks

I feel it's more likely to be the router issue than a line fault. I had a Netgear DG834 something or other and it started disconnecting very frequently and I was told it was because the Texas instruments chipset it contained couldn't cope with the very high signal to noise ratio on the line (i.e. I was near the exchange and it was a good signal). Swapping my router solved it totally, so it's worth experimenting with other hardware.

It might be worth ringing Sky and getting them to swap the router for the newer DG934G router, which doesnt seem as problematic as the older one.

Thats an option - though you'll have to go through their tier1 "technical" support before being escalated through to tier3 who would then replace your router for you.

Another option would be to log into the router GUI and disable the UPNP function. This can sometimes cause conflict issues which may drop the connection.
