A friend has it and even mid afternoon on a weekend he gets full speed on torrenting.

Strange as he lives 500 metres from me but gets 8.2mb/s and I get 6.2mb/s with BT.

I was tempted to change to them but have a further 10 months of my contract left. :(

Yeah I've just been reading around, this sounds excellent. I think I will change later on today. Using ADSL24 at the moment which are pretty good, this works out cheaper and also gets Sky TV though so its looking good.

Take a tip from me, when you give your mac code, do it carefully and then ask them to read it back, twice.

Why?, after they took my code down wrongly, it took months to sort out.

Pre-active cancel they called it, bloody nightmare.

All fine now though.

It would be an idea to read the Sky Fair Usage Policy.

Just read the BT one and it has been amended to say that all P2P is throttled between the hours of 4pm - Midnight Weekdays and 9am - Midnight at weekends.

Good job I do my torrenting when i'm in bed.

Made the change :)

Apparently sky is the only UK isp with NO fair use policy. They do no packet shaping and its truly unlimited, heard of someone downloading 1TB in a month.

I think sky is the best and cheapest option for me. as BT is £22.50 + BB £19.56 and sky will only be £25 on top of my sky+.

One question can I move if I still have contract time with BT (12 months is not up till April/May)

Just done an order check on Sky and its come up with this.

Currently we estimate that the maximum download speed your line could support is up to 4.5 Mb*

Great news, you are in a Sky Broadband area. You can choose between Max, Mid or Base broadband products.

Does that mean I cant get the max 16mb connection. Due to to many people at my exchange have it.

Well ive been with Sky for 3 months now and its the best move ive ever made after 4 years of suffering with -net.

according to the sky line check i should be getting

"Currently we estimate that the maximum download speed your line could support is up to 6 Mb."

but have since connection been getting more like an average 14mb and regularly download at 1.5mb/s ..

Long gone are the days of spending the last few days of the month getting capped to some ridiculous 56k speed ,getting kicked from game servers for high ping not being able to connect to my ftp servers at all ..

Some people do have problems but thats the same with all IPS's

make the move m8 you wont regret it :)

Clairvoyant, if you are on a sky enabled exchange with llu, you can take max package no problem it just means your line wont get the full 16mb. But you will still be on the unlimited.

And as said earlier their is no fup and no shaping or throttling at all on the network at the moment.

No problems here. I've been on the 16Mb service for 18 months. I'm getting 13Mb (close to the exchange) and get a good 1.1MB/sec on downloads.

There's no FUP or download limit on the 16Mb service (others have an FUP) and I've never noticed that I'm getting traffic shaped.
