Sky Broadband

Hi guys.

Everytime i pick up my home phone, my broadband drops out then you can hear beeps and general distortion on the phone as the router flashes amber. It is fine when you unplug the phone though!

Sky installed a splitter then i plug my phone into that, the other end runs to the router.

Any idea?

Do you have a spare splitter or get one form a spare router you might have about.

Yeah change the ADSL Filter (think thats what it is.)

Sounds like a duff ADSL filter. They're a couple of quid to replace.

You used to get two filters with every sky router. Maybe you have the second one in a drawer or something?

^ Had two when we joined in feb. Funny enough i bought one prior i was using that went pete tong. Now using one sky supplied

If there's a splitter in the socket first (normally installed by the sky TV installer) then your (new) filter should be before this as the first thing in the socket. Plug your Router into the new filter, the double socket thingy into the phone side (if you have multiroom or order PPV movies you need the sky box or boxes connected to the phone line) then your phone into one of the sockets on the double adaptor. You'll probably get a speed boost too. Working for an ISP I've done this with a few customers. my current record is under 1 meg with the splitter in the socket first to the correct setup then getting 18.5.
