Since late evening Monday 10th august Sky Connect package users have not been able to access the internet. I am one of these customers. Im only able to write this from a friends house. The outage i was told by "tech" support would be fixed by wednesday 12th at least! This is not the case my net is still down, ive just got off the phone from their so called tech support to confirm it. This is just a drop in the ocean of problems ive experienced since i changed to their Connect package, slow speeds, horrible service, line shaping/throttling and short term outages.
So to anyone considering Sky as a BB provider, please take your time reviewing other options. However there are others out there who will argue that this is not the case and that their BB from sky is perfect...they must be on the MAX package
. If you can only get the connect package if you are looking to cutdown on your bills heres to point to remember, 1. Save afew pounds and put up with the terrible service from Sky and their condesending tech support or 2. spend 10 to 12 pounds more and get a better service from one of the many BB ISP in the uk.
Id chose option 2 any day. So i need help choosing a decent ISP. Im looking for decent speeds, no throttling and short term contracts that range from 1 to 3 months. Im 8 months in to my 12 month contract with sky, im starting to read through their terms and conditions about leaving their BB connect package well within the 12 month period and i found this from the Unofficial Sky user forums...
sorry to rabble. Im just fed up with this, im paying for a service im not getting.

Sky Broadband is variable and our prices, Products and the Sky Broadband Extras can change, even during your Minimum Term. However, if we reduce the level of service provided by your chosen Product and you reasonably consider that you have been disadvantaged by this you will have a right to move to another Product or end this Contract. You can also end the Contract during your Minimum Term if we increase your Sky Broadband Payment more than once, or by more than 10% or the annual increase in the UK Retail Price Index, whichever is the greater. If you wish to end this Contract in these circumstances, then you need to let us know within one calendar month of notice of the change (Conditions 7(a), 11(c) and 11(d)
