hi there

i need to distribute tv and sky+ all round the house, to about 8 points.
there will probably be 4 sky+ boxes so everyone can watch/record what they want.
will a loftbox meet these requirements or is there another way of achieving the same thing?
at the moment there are single cables run to each point that meet in the loft with the aerials, so ideally i could combine the aerial/sky+ signals onto one cable and then split them at the other end like the loftbox.

cheers

matt.

mattux, if you give us a clear example of how many TV's you have and exactly what you need on each one then we can give a definate answer to the best setup.

sorry been bit busy

the client wants a very flexible setup so sky+ boxes can be added as and when needed/or moved. the cabling is hard wired, they dont want cables clipped round here there and everywhere otherwise i guess they would get sky to do it, or get it installed when they require upgrades.

i thought that you would be able to split the sat signal like rf but after further investigation it appears that this is not possible, however someone did mention 'multi switch' but havent looked into it yet. im sure you can split the signal from a cable digital supplier, ie ntl, telewest but cant get it in the area unfortunately

at the moment i have ran 4 coax to living room from booster position and 1 coax to every point with a triplex front plate

btw, you say people can record what they want, have you considered what 4 Sky + boxes is gonna cost ?

the cost is not my concern fortunately as its for a client

thanks for the replies

Sounds like you need a multiswitch, quattro LNB feeding the four inputs, and two cables to each point where Sky+ is required. You won't get away with crap quality coax cable which unfortunately is what most electricians use. Stick with something like Webro WF100 or even better get a shotgun cable like WF100 twin.

You can feed UHF / DAB / FM into the multiswitch too and these will be available at any point. You'll need to fit triplexed outlet plates everywhere. You'll need to use a bigger dish than normal. Hirschmann make good quality dishes.

thanks for that carp, ill put it to them and see how far they want to go.
all my work is north london/herts, if they want to spend the money ill give you a shout

cheers
