Do we have any here? :)

Me and my brother are expecting a "telephone" interview about a job as a Sky engineer soon, just wondering what to expect etc.

Thanks,
Adam.

dont work for sky but some advice to you would be just apply to random crappy call centres and go through their telephone interview processes to get used to them

it's a screening process. They ask generic questions, like why do you want the job, tell you about the job etc... You'd have to be totally retarded or make a grave error not to pass. If you pass (they'll tell you at the end) you'll be invited to an 'open day' interview where you have to assemble a dish, teamwork excercise, ladder test, and interview and a medical.

I know cos I done this, but in the end I didn't get the job. I think i messed up my interview quite severely. Or there were better candidates (there were 40 people or so)

I had a bad expeirence with a lazy Sky engineer today, he came round to fit my newly ordered sky service although I wasnt in at the time.

He fitted the sky dish on the opposite side of the house to where our TV is in the living room (this is fine) but I atleast expected him to lead a cable over the roof and drill a hole through the wall next to my TV. No instead he just drilled a hole on the other side of the house then nailed the cable to my newly decorated skirting board all the way along the living room to reach my TV.

You should see it, it looks ridiculous to say the least, thick white cable nailed along some beech effect skirting board!

They are coming back out at the weekend to do a proper job when I am here but now my skirting board is full of holes which need filling :(

Grrr

That is pretty damn lazy surely it would have been easier to chuck the cable over the roof. I work in tech at sky, but applied for the engineer job as I want to drive a van lol. Should be hearing back soon about the phone interview but im not sure I fanyc climbing ladders in winter. :)

What the hell

It's hardly lazy that he took the time to tack it neatly around the skirting board instead of slinging it over the roof and hoping for the best. Not only does that look sightly but it would probably need replaced after no time, since it's likely to be battered by the elements.

...although a white cable on beech effect skirting would look horrendous too :D

Hate to say it but wood effect is hard to fill cos of the colour matching and grain, might need to be re-done :( but at least you can claim it as damages.

My old house was a terrace so they had to have the cable over the roof and the cable was fine for many years, I think it was just purely lazyness.

They are coming out this weekend so I will see what they say as to damages, I will get some pictures though before they change it just so you lot can see how much of a bodge job it is!
