I'm having problems with my Sky box. I've got an Amstrad Sky +HD box, with a single feed from a communal dish.

Since the start of the day, I've been getting Error 29, and no signal. The TV Guide isn't loading, and obviously I'm not getting any pictures. Also, the box is saying that there is no phone line connected, although there is. Is that related? I assume that the actual pictures simply come through the dish?

Anyway, any advice? It could just be the weather, of course...

Most likely the weather in regards to signal, communal feeds can be a right PITA.

I assume you have unpluged it etc?

Hmm, hopefully.

Yup, I've unplugged it, reset the LNB etc. All the usual stuff and still nothing. I'll see what it's like tomorrow.

Check the signal test screen (Services, 0,4) and check for a signal on both inputs or just one. if it's just one, swap the cables. if there's no signal at all it could be the box, do you have another one to try or are others in the block having problems?

I'm on a single feed anyway, but no, it's not got any signal at all. I don't have another box to try, but will email a few people I know in the block to see if they have Sky, and if they're having problems as well.

It was so grim here over the weekend that I wouldn't be surprised if the dish had been knocked out of alignment (or knocked out entirely) to be honest.

As mentioned briefly in the OP, the box is also not recognizing a phoneline. I've had this problem in the past, where a phoneline wasn't recognized and my EPG wasn't updating, and fixed it by unplugging and reinserting the phoneline. Does the phoneline impact on the EPG at all? If not, I guess it could be some sort of intermittent fault with the box?

Called the property managers, and it turns out that I'm not the only one to have done so, so it looks like the weather knocked out the dish. Good news, I guess!
