I live in a block of flats fibre to premises still good? Or will it be the same as FTTC as there is more copper going up to various flats ?

Not sure why you had an assisted install when Sky are sending you a Black Router that has the VDSL modem built in? You should only need the black router, not the Openreach modem and the Sky Router.
 
A update.

Ordered fibre a few weeks ago over the phone was told I was getting the black SR102.

Open reach turned up on the 24th but I hadn't received my router so he installed the white open reach modem and I plugged my old ADSL router into it just to get online.

The 25th a white sky router turned up the SR101.

I rang sky they said someones made a mistake but they will send out the black SR102 today and I can do what I want with the rest of the equipment.

Today the 31st another white SR101 turns up.

I ring sky again they said the black SR102 is in trials and they will not send me one.

I complain and they have put a note on my account to give me a free one when they become available.

I've posted on the sky forum about it so see what happens, I feel its a bit petty of me but whatever.

Yes, also I already had a deal on my bill that took £17 off a month, this is running until March 2014, for whatever reason they decided to take this deal of when I got fibre and had to sort that out with them yesterday.

I'm just sick of them screwing up and me having to ring them so ended up raging at them today but it wasn't until I raised my voice that they offered the black router for free when its available, before that they basically just said tough you will have to buy it for £69.99 when its available.
 
Sky have just blocked my favorite torrent site, fuming. Though a waste of their time considering proxy sites can still get to it....

Just tried for the second time to negotiate as existing customer an upgrade deal to fibre. Not a sausage, wouldn't waive the installation fee, not a chance of 6 months half price. What department do you guys contact to get an upgrade deal?
 
If you're at the end or close to the end of the contract, just tell them you'll be soon leaving for a competitor. They'll soon decide to give you a good offer.
 
How much will one of these SR102s set us back? Mum hates the white ugly boxes as they're referred to in this house, so a singular black box would be nice.... Also tempted to just but an Asus or just claim the SR101 is broken under Sky Protect.


E; I like PirateBrowser or Tor, pretty much the same.
 
Up until a week ago, i regularly had a "DownStream Connection Speed" in the 40xxx range. However, i can now only sync at 20xxx, despite constant router restarts :mad:
