Getting sky fibre on 7th July. I'm already with sky, how does it get turned on? Do I get someone come around and install something or all done at exchange?

Already with sky on unlimited so have standard router, already got the new one, can I plug that in now or have to wait until 7th?

Thanks

You should receive a BT-openreach fiber modem, and a sky Hub or if they send you the black sr102 that's VDSL. but a engineer will attend to install the new faceplate..

other then that it's all simple.

Unless things have changed Sky don't send an engineer to the house. They've gone down the cheap route and just provide plugin line filters, basically the same as you'd get with an ADSL connection.

AFAIK all Sky broadband is now self-install, you'll get the Sky Hub and some microfilters and it installs the same way whether it's ADSL or VDSL.

Pretty sure a enginer comes to replace the old faceplate with a new fiber 1. That's what happened with mine. Fiber doesn't have any filters I've gone none I'm on fiber pro with sky 80/20

Right, that's how FTTC used to be installed. Openreach have been offering self-install for a while, and Sky use it.

My was self-install, just plug in new hub on activation date and it will turned on a certain time. and ur up and running :p

The new Sky Hub is 'dual use' in that it will work for Fibre and DSL so yes you can plug it in now. As said above its a self install so NO Engineer will come to the house. If you don't have a pre filtered faceplate then you still need microfilters in all sockets in use around the house.

As said, the new Sky hub (SR102) has the modem built in. So you get your date on the box with the SR102, and on that day you plug it in and away you go.

In the interests of getting the best speed possible though I would still use a filtered faceplate and run a nice new piece of cable to wherever you decide to have the router positioned.
