Can anyone who has upgraded from Sky+ to Sky HD needed any changes making to their cabling? Is it still just two lengths of coaxial terminating with f-connectors?

I'm currently decorating my lounge and I want to chase the cabling into the walls and run it under the floor because I'm moving the TV by about 6m. I don't want to have to dig it all out and start again in 3 months when I get my HD tv arrives and I upgrade sky.

Make sure the coax you have in place is decent stuff.

I like Webro WF100. It's not very expensive so maybe a good idea to change it now. Ideally you want as few a joins as possible, you should be able to do it with 0 joins.

Also, run the telephone cabling for the Sky box.

Infact, have you considered any other phone/telephone points you may want as you're currently decorating? How about using the RF2 output on the Sky box to distribute Sky to other TV's? Or what about the aerial input on the Sky box (remember the other TV's in your home will need a decent signal come analogue switch off).

Also, is your Sky dish low-down on the wall, generally looking crap? You could get it moved to the stack or up out of the way for a small fee and the cabling replaced at the same time :)

Being at the back of the house in the loft I didn't want cables straggling the outside, so I managed to get the installers to run the two cables along through the whole back segment of the roof cupboards straight from the dish to the Sky HD box.

It has the clearest path possible and the cables are completely hidden, yet easily accessible.. worth the hassle of cleaning out the cupboards anyday  :)
