Other important points about your Sky Contract
• You must keep your telephone line (which must be fixed, operational) connected to your Sky Box for at least 12 months from installation (if installed by Sky) throughout the Minimum Term. You must let us collect information through this line, including your telephone number (caller line identification or CLI).
• While your Sky Box is connected to a fixed and operational telephone line, information may be passed from it to us and vice versa by telephone. Please have a look at our Privacy Policy in the Sky terms and conditions for details on how we can use such information.

What a joke

You can 'opt out' of the telephone connection by paying a one off £25 charge to sky at the time of booking.

I will try and dig the promotion code out of the sky order pack info at work.

depends how long you've been a subscriber as well, as if you are over the initial 12 month period and its not connected, you should have no problems

New install is where the problem lie, as more an more peopole are just having mobiles and no fixed line. this is why sky came up with the £25 'opt-out'

Lucky sod do you still have to connect the box to the phoneline as this is what puts me off getting sky.
why does it put you off getting sky. If you dont want the phone cable connected just disconnect it as soon as the sky engineer has left your house sky cant tell if its conected and if they find out just say you must have disconected it by acident.

Doesnt work for multiroom tho.

You can buy a Sky box and not have to have phone line in, the boxes are dearer (e.g. the HD box is £399 not £299)

No - these days they simply bill you for £200 (the installation fee you were not charged when you agreed to keep it connected to the phone line for 12 months).
You can complain, however as you agreed to keep it connected for 12 months you don't actually have a leg to stand on - called a contract etc.

Save £200 by having the box attached to your phone line for 12 months - it's hardly a tough question.
The box is always called, if it calls out it does so on a free phone number.
As long as you correctly cable it up it will not cause any problems with your broadband (we have it attached, my parents have it attached, I know of three mates too - all have no broadband issues).
