Sky HD upgrade

If I took out a new 12-month standard def contract with Sky, would I be locked out of getting a Sky HD upgrade for the full 12 months?

Reason for asking - I have a 'come back to Sky' offer and I'm weighing up whether to accept that (which means using my existing Sky+ box, though I'll probably open it up and put a new HDD inside) or upgrade to HD now.

i would say that u could upgrade at any point although the waiting list for existing sky customers is months to upgrade. "new" customers is less than a week in my area anyway. take a new customer deal probs better.

So, I've got half price SD for six months and I'll take HD at the end of that.

We had a family day watching Murray at wimbledon in my cinema room in Sky HD on the screen and projector.

My mum couldn't belive how good it looked!

Now thats something as she hasn't a clue!

Damn, wish I had known about that offer when I ordered Sky HD last week!

I think its still running atm, I got mine on Sunday. I was told to inform Sky I'd got an HDTV when they query the receipt though...

Just to add..

If you buy your own Sky Hd box you can buy the HD sub on a monthly basis. e.g. You won't be tied in for 12 months as you buy the box

Thanks. Might go in and have a look. Much as I dislike dealing with the purple shirt people, I do need some printer ink, and an upgrade to Sky HD would be nice.
