Sky HDMI Woes

Having a few issues with a new Sky Q box.

Connect it by HDMI to a 1 year old TV , works flawlessly.

Connect it to a big ol 40"+ TV that's about 9 years old , and i get sound but no picture.

Same HDMI cable, I want to assume this is some sort of anti piracy handshake thing where the old tv doesn't have the tech to "talk back" , but is there anything else it could be? TV works fine with other HDMI sources.

It's probably exactly that. Your 9 year old TV doesnt support HDCP 2.2

I assume you've tried other HDMI ports on the TV just in case though?

Yep tried both. Fire stick is more than happy though

Is the new shiny 1-year old TV 4K with HDR etc? How about the 9 year old TV?

If you're swapping over without changing the Sky Q video output settings then that could be the issue.

On the new TV, set Sky Q to 1080p. Now swap over. Once you have a picture on the old TV, increase the resolution (if applicable) and see what happens from there. Report back.

Took a while to get around to this.

Set the box to 1080p , Still no video, sound only.

Tried a so-called HDMI signal stripper, which also failed to deliver a video signal, but did pass through audio.

I guess it's just not possible to use the old TV with a newer sky box, strange the amazon fire-stick (newest 4k version) doesn't have an issue though , unless there's no copy encryption with the fire-sticks ?

i had issues but from usual place bought hdmi splitter from ROFAVEZCO 4K 60Hz 1x2 1080P 120Hz HDCP and it now works fine. Just sites between tv and sky and now no need to reboot the box or black screen..
