Hey all,

Ive been on a sky llu connection for about 2 years, i must be 4km from the exchange, and ive always come to the conclusion that you get what you pay for, 'cos tbh its always been terrible, connection used to drop out 2-3 (sometimes more) times a day, id find myself restarting my router more times that i care to remember some days because it used to resync at silly speeds, i mean like 120~kbps down, but still do 768kbps upstream lol

So about a month ago i was about to switch to Be/o2 because i was fed up with it! However since then its been rock solid.

Just wondered if anyone else has had noticeable improvements with Sky's BB or am i just tempting fate? :D

If you had dropouts and rubbish sync speeds, then it will generally have been a problem with the line rather than with Sky's service. This could either have been a problem with the line on the way to your house, which is BT's responsibility to fix, or (probably more commonly) an issue with your internal wiring - for example, dodgy connections on your phone socket or microfilters, or something else that was introducing lots of noise to your line.

If it happens again, it's a good idea to try connecting directly to your master phone socket rather than to another socket or an extension lead. If it's still no good, take the front panel off your master socket and connect the router to the test socket beneath - that will eliminate any noise caused by your internal wiring. If it still plays up, check you only have two wires coming into the master socket (2 and 5) - any others aren't necessary any more and just cause interference. If there are still problems, moan at BT about it :)
