As per my threads in the console section, i was sold a belkin-f5d7132-wireless-g-universal-range-extender to use as a wireless adapter for the xbox 360, after much confusion trying to set this up, as im not very clued up on networking, i managed to get it working wirelessly from the xbox and connecting to xbox live, however i had to have the security settings disabled in my sky netgear modem. If i enable wep security and enter a password into the xbox network settings it still wont connect.

how can i set my sky router to have security enabled and allow my xbox to connect to xbox live ?

many thanks :D

1. try enabling WPA security, WEP is easily hackable.
2. i think the Xbox's standard type of securty connect is WPA so this should cure the problem.

If you have any MAC address filtering on, you will have to enter the Xbox's WIFI card mac address.

Hope this helps, if not get back on here :)

hi thanks for the reply, i thought i read somewhere the xbox security is wep, i hope im wrong and that fixes it.

as for mac filtering ill look at my settings and see if there is somewhere to insert the xbox mac address.

cheers ;)

The Xbox will do better than WEP, but whether that repeater will is another story. There's no real point to all the hassle of MAC address filtering - if you've got it on, switch it off.

thanks for the advice guys, i have had a look and nothing actually says mac filtering but there is an access list, is this the same thing see pics please.

what security should i be using and what info should i be adding to the xbox network settings ?

That's the sausage. There's no need to touch anything on there.

lol i wondered what sausage was, taken in context i think it means things are correct :D

so does the 360 do wpa security and should i only need to enter the password into the 360 settings ?
