I have Sky HD but I've never really bothered to watch the anytime stuff online because I did't think much of the picture. However I was bored the other morning & was playing with the sky player on xbox live & I have to say the picture quality is pretty decent considering it's being streamed. If anyone else here was the same as me being a bit snobby about the image quality, it's definitely worth having a look you might be as surprised as me! Plus there's actually loads on there to watch!
Enjoy

It's decent, some football coverage is really bad quality though and it's impossible to change the quality which is annoying.

i love it, loads of clips and shows, i think ive been through every boxing fight all the soccer am clips and everything :D

kinda poor quality (suits me), but a very good database.

Yep there is, but unfortunately some channels restrict you from change it.

:/

Auto works well for me normally but in the evening with BT it can be a bit slow and drop the quality down, more an ISP issue than Sky, the auto feature is really good IMO and does prevent buffering, I just watch it in the party room setup if the quality is dropping.

It's pretty good but when I first ran it it mentioned that if I want to watch live TV I would need a multiroom subscription on the Sky account which I don't have... however it still seems to let me watch live TV through it when I've tried (both Sky News and Sky Sports) so no idea what's going on there.

I know this has probably been asked before but.... can I enter my parent's sky account details and use the sky player at my own place since they dont have or will ever have a 360? I realise that I wont have access to everything and just the on-demand stuff - what does that consist of?

Yes.

You'll have access to the ondemand stuff your parents subscribe to. So if they have movies etc. you'll have 100+ movies available to stream.

Yes you can, what you get access to depends on what packages they have, if they have sports then you can watch live sports same for movies etc it's not just an on-demand service you can watch live tv.

I've only just discovered this as well.
To be honest, the quality is pretty good. The only annoying thing is you can't really fast forward or rewind without it buffering for an age.

Yes. You should have access to all the on-demand and live streaming of the channel packs that they subscribe to (that are available on Sky Player as well, the live channels are fairly limited in number).

If they don't have a multiroom subscription the live streaming will only work for a few more weeks, I think the live channels on Sky Player should work for all Sky customers at the moment, but only on a trial basis until (IIRC) the end of this month.

I have used 30 days of it on an account my mate let me use, I was really impressed with it. I watched some football games and a UFC event and I couldn't fault the quality...no buffering either.

Yep the auto quality setting does a good job of avoiding buffering. I'm only on 5MB and the picture quality when watching live TV is usually constantly on high with no buffering at all. I love the on demand stuff as well, there's quite a lot to choose from and the quality of the playback is great. I've never tried inviting people into a party and watching a show together, though I imagine it'd be pretty cool. :)

The only problem I have with Sky Player is the only being allowed to add one device per month. I reformatted my laptop and when I logged into Sky Player it told me my computer wasn't registered, and that I couldn't register it for another month, which is totally lame. If you can only have 5 devices maximum then what difference does it make. Oh, and sometimes programmes don't seem to be updated for a while. I waited 4 or 5 days for the newest episode of Blue Bloods to be put into the on demand section, and when it was finally updated it removed all the previous episodes which was a bit pants.
