Hi all,
Was going to post this in the TV forum however that seems to be geared towards software rather than hardware.

I have a 5yr old Sky+ HD box. Recently it's started having constant blocky pictures, sound problems and quite often 'no signal to your HD box'.

I've reset the box, turned it off, unplugged it etc but nothing.

bit of a cop out answer, but provided you are getting sky via legal means, I would contact them and ask for an engineer as you're not getting a service that you are paying for.

Those channels are on the same satellite (Hotbird 13E). Try MTV and NickJR as they are on the same one too. If they are bad as well then it could be that your dish has moved slightly or your LNB is faulty.

He'd be doing well to be getting 13E from a Sky Dish (These channels and sky generally is on a cluster of satellites between 28.2 and 28.5) :p

Anyway - Yep, dish or LNB, probably the dish. It needs re-aligning. :) As others have said, do not pay sky for this, it is a subscription service and they can/do waive any fees to rectify faults like this.

haha beat me to it! :p getting 13E from a mini dish would be awesome :D

Do you know the model of the box? With some of the much older boxes, the psu's would become faulty and that would affect certain frequencies. I'd also try just a quick potential fix of pressing 0 0 1 select (if memory serves, google it to confirm) to enter the engineers menu and performing a planner rebuild. Used to fix a lot of niggly issues I'd get with my old sly hd boxes.

Given them a shout and they were actually quite helpful.

Given me Sky Go Extra free for 2 months with a 31 day cancellation - so ring up after my engineer appointment next week and cancel that. Engineer is coming out for free and I didn't have to even quibble that.

Sorted. :)

I had something similar, which only affected HD channels. Turns out my 4G router was too close to the bundle of cables coming from the dish. The engineer and I only worked this out after changing the dish, LNB and box :p
