Got Sky Q installed today and the engineer told me that my amp (Yamaha RX-V377) would cause a problem and stop me from getting UHD

I've looked online and my amp isn't HDCP 2.2 compliant so may not allow 4k although i can get 4k through my Fire 4k box

sky engineer said the possible work around was to connect the sky box directly to my tv but doing so I get no sound...
Ive been reading into ARC which the TV and amp HDMI output socket show as arc compatible but after connecting a HDMI connection between the two, still no audio..

Any ideas? Apart from buying a new amp that is HDCP 2.2 compliant?

When you tried using ARC, did you change the TV's sound output settings to ARC ? Could explain the lack of sound if you didn't.

Yeah just looked and they seem good as well as an ONKYO TXSR444 that's had good reviews

As have the PS4 pro on order I'm thinking about a media upgrade so hdr TVs will be next on list in the region of 40-43"; are there many 10 bit ones around?

I had the same issue, sky q wouldn't set to 4k resolution until I had an HDCP2.2 amp in the middle. I went for a Yamaha I was due an upgrade anyway ;)

as others have said though you could use optical out to the AV port on the amp and connect the sky q box to a different hdmi port does mean changing channels on TV though and I prefer to change it on the amp.

Tried the optical cable and worked first time so at least that saves me having to buy a new amp straight away...can spend bit of time now looking at which will be best
