I'm looking at upgrading my Sky Q broadband hub.

Wifi as everyone says is shocking and also when wired, I'm getting poor signal / connectivity alerts in games on both PS4 and Windows

I've been told to look at the Netgear D6400; would this be a good option or are there others?

If the issue is WiFi, why aren’t you considering adding an AP rather than another AIO router stuck in a less optimal location?

I would, but as per my OP, the wired is an issue also with poor signal alerts in games on wired.

I've tried the hub in various spots around the house and trialed with network cables trailed around and no improvements

Not sure how I missed that, before going any further what are the line stats and is anything else using the connection or are you/anyone else in the household running anything that may be saturating your uplink (torrenting etc?) or routing your traffic via VPN? It’s very unlikely to be a router issue if you are getting that via a wired connection.

I've had sky do tests on the line (when I've moaned about the wifi) and they say its ok and the connection is good. They can't send an engineer to me due to lockdown

I'm the main user of the internet in the house and outside of the PC (gaming and work) its only really streaming on TV's through Disney+ or Netflix

I have a sky q router (with a fibre connection) and would like a better (faster and stronger signal strength) router.

Currently I have 3 mini-boxes to boost signal strength around the house and act as wifi hotspots - but my son is struggling in his room with online Warhammer vermintide kicking him out despite supposedly good speeds and signal strength (yet if I take his computer downstairs and plug it directly into the router with a cable then he dosnt gets kicked (but only suffers lag).

My question is: 1. are you able to replace the sky Q router with say a Netgear D6400 (do sky let you do this - and if so how do I get the information to set the new one up)?
2. could I plug another wifi router into my sky Q router (to boost signal strength.
