Sky Q lip sync , will optical cable cure it ?

My ax902 has gone for repair , all my cables are in trunking so now is the time to add one if I can squeeze it into the trunking .
Currently I'm using ARC back to my Denon 2300 but the lip sync is quite bad at times . So was thinking optical might work ? What ya think ?

Your AV amplifier has audio delay. Adjust it in ms until it matches up with on screen.

Tried that , but each channel seems different , some are fine others are completely out of whack

sounds familiar, i had similar issues when i was with virgin and had a tivo box. optical cured it. Wouldnt hurt to try?

Yeah that's what I thought , so is it hdmi from sky box to amp then optical from amp to TV ?

Same TV as me.

Cure = rewind a few seconds, press play = fix

I don't usually use optical ever, but with Sky Q I decided to as there aren't ever issues with audio delay unlike HDMI.

HDMI has auto lip sync but you need compatible components

on normal sky+ boxes, if It looses sync, pause then play works for me

That won't work unless you also have HDMI or a direct connection from the Sky Q box to the TV as optical is sound only. I've always done Sky box to TV via HDMI and Sky box to amp via Optical. That way if I don't want the surround sound I don't need it and have TV sound or I can turn the amp on, turn the TV volume to zero and have surround sound via the amp.

that didn't work for me, I use HDMI from sky to TV for pic and optical from sky to amp for sound
