Sky Q or Sky Stream?

Firstly, I know absolutely nothing about Sky and their set top boxes so bear this in mind if my questions are daft!

My wife has started work and Sky and will be eligible for a free Sky set up. I understand that Sky Stream is delivered over the net while Sky Q is by dish. I’ve been told that Sky Q is better because you can record programmes and also the picture quality is better. However I know that Sky Q has a background of screwing up your WiFi, something I’m wary off as I’ve a reasonably sensitive smart home set up.

So what’s best? Sky Stream, Sky Q, some other option? Anything obvious I’ve missed?

Q is definitely superior and if you can get it is a better overall choice, but stream does have its place.

definitely Q over stream. if you have managed to set up your own home network then you should be fine with any wifi issues.

with sky fibre and sky router no issues of course, but when i switched provider and used my own equipment i did have an issue where the q box would just disconnect at the same time every morning.
for me it happened to be when the access point would scan/search wifi automatically for optimisation every morning, disabled that and its never dropped.

Q over stream any day. I prefer full control of my recordings, although it looks like Sky TV by satellite's days are numbered.

The wifi connection Sky creates for the mini boxes can be flaky. Hard wire if possible. I'm gradually hard wiring the house but at the moment I've got the mini box connected by ethernet to my mesh network, which is much more stable.

We moved from Q to the puck, purely because when it came to renewal time the deal they offered was poor and they wouldn't budge.

Ended up canceling and signing up to a new deal as a new customer for the puck which was a decent amount cheaper and got a referral cashback offer. I did prefer the Q for recording but for the price the puck was the much better deal.

Can't say connection wise one is better than the other. The house is hard-wired so plugged in to the network anyway.

How does the picture quality compare?
