*** Sky Q Thread ***

People on the Sky Q forum now reporting that the Juddering Fix hasn't worked for some and that it can be more pronounced then before.

http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Juddering-in-2160p-mode-when-using-Sony-TV/m-p/2534067#M52528

Glad I haven't applied it yet and probably worth holding back if you haven't yourself.

If you have then:

Hi All

I am Quinnicus a volunteer from the SonyUK Community Forums. I note that many are still experiencing issues after you have updated the firmware.

Can you please also post this onto the Sony Community Forums too - as the more people who report this, the more likely Sony will listen, and I doubt Sony are actively monitoring these forums.

https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/and...-4k-2160p-juddering-issues-sky-bt/m-p/2081726

Please also confirm:
Your exact TV Model Number
You have factory reset your TV (first troubleshooting step Sony will ask anyhow)
Confirm that the firmware version has been installed - ( Help > System Information )

It might also be very helpful if someone could make a short video of the problem containing the firmware version in the video as well

Cheers

Sony update on the Juddering Fix:

UPDATE: Juddering issue on Sony 4K TVs when using a UHD Set-top box – 03. October

03 October 2016

It’s been brought to our attention that some customers may still be experiencing intermittent juddering while watching 4K content via a UHD set-top box.

Our engineers are investigating this issue with the upmost priority.

To improve stability and reduce the likelihood of juddering occurring, please download firmware (ver.3.509) on our support site

Alternatively, if the juddering symptom persists, please try the temporary workaround provided in our FAQ: Juddering images when watching 2160p (4K) output from UHD Set-top boxes via HDMI

We also recommend bookmarking this page for future reference, so that you can be informed when a permanent solution is available.

We thank you for your patience and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

UPDATE: If you're currently experiencing this issue, we recommend downloading the latest firmware (ver.3.509) which is available on our support site

Unaffected customers are not required to download this update.

Apart from some 4K flickering we've been pretty much error free until Wednesday morning when the “Black Screen of Death” occurred when switching on to watch breakfast news.

It has now happened on numerous occasions and keeps coming back (see note).

This is with a Silver box with latest firmware using UHD output and KD-55XD9305 has flicker fix.

No amount of resetting the box and tv/ports resolves this issue.

Switching off Dolby/Optical makes no difference, nor does using Eco mode.

All combinations of ports have been tried and it persists. Resetting the silver box does not always recover the picture.

With us the black screen is stuck in UHD. The TV is ok as it runs Amazon/Blu-ray 4K boxes without error.

After two days of hell reported to Sky last night and they’re sending out an engineer on November 3rd!

---------------------

Note: As a last resort, I switched the Silver box to 1080P late last night and so far, no reset.

Still get the black screen with 1080P but at least we're now not paying for the service. I wonder what has happened in the background to make this happen as more people are now reporting the same!

Black screen of death continued:

A short-term fix before the engineer comes to fix (replace) box or Sky do something magical...

It is only the Sliver box that is causing the black screen. The Mini and iPad work.

Brought down the Mini box from upstairs plugged it into the main TV using the Silver box hdmi lead and we now have a temporary working system in our living room.

[So the TV port and hdmi lead are eliminated from the problem and we are sure that the Silver box is at fault.]

Black screen of death continued:

The use of the mini box as a substitute for the Silver box ended in failure on Saturday morning when the black screen returned.

Has one last attempt at trying to fix the issue by removing all other inputs from the TV (Blu-ray, Amazon, Soundbar). Still no change! Having tried each HDMI input apart from the one supporting ARC decided to try that one and no more black screen.

Been fine for two days now. Given that I've probably spent around ten hours trying to get this resolved I'll leave cancelling the engineer callout for a few more days just to make sure it remains fine.

Does anyone one know whether the software reset option one on the hidden menu clears down any satellite dish settings?

KD-55XD9305 4K Flickering Update: Decided to use the v3.509 firmware last week. All good until Saturday when watching a recording of the latest Major Crimes (Sky) the juddering came back. It was certainly more violent then it had been before and took two restarts to clear.

This, top end, expensive TV is not fit for purpose. We'll wait until the end of this month for a further firmware update and if that is not forthcoming be talking to JL/Sony.

Hope this finally does it:
