I recently upgraded to a Netgear Orbi system, which is great with everything, except Sky Q

It won't connect to the Orbi WiFi at all, but I also made a guest network and IOT network as well for legacy devices and smart home stuff. But even on those it has the same issues.

Anyone else have the same issue or know how to possibly rectify it?

You really need to hardwire the boxes with Ethernet ideally, then use the Sky Service menu to disable WiFi on all boxes. Even if it seems to show being connected to your WiFi, it is actually using a proprietary mesh network to communicate between the boxes.

Otherwise you receive regular disconnects on Sky Q mini boxes that require regular resets to reconnect connection to the main box. It’s not a Netgear issue, I have had issues with Asus, Netgear, and UniFi.

I have mine connected through UniFi mini switches which are PoE powered and then through a UDM pro and segregated on an IoT network VLAN to keep it away from more secure devices.

i was having the same issues with my unifi wifi after switching from sky fibre.
i created a 2.4band and the sky box is the only device that uses 2.4, hasnt dropped connection since.

before it would drop when trying to stay on 5ghz then would not even recognise my ssid

Try a 2.4 GHz only network and see if that helps.

Sky Q can be a massive pain with some Wi-Fi kit, although I didn't have any issues with UniFi.
