Sky Q won’t connect with third party router

Hi

This is not a straightforward swap out of routers. I’m still using the Sky Hub (SR203 for FTTP) due to need for landline.

I’ve set up an Asus TUF AX6000 in access mode to accommodate the Sky Hub. Wifi is turned off on Sky Hub)

Try as I may, I can't get Sky Q to connect to the Asus 2.4Ghz network. Q only connects to 2.4 with other routers/ISPs. (Previously had ethernet but want to take advantage of the much better coverage of the Asus. I follow process in Sky settings but it always disconnects after a minute or two. The Sky settings don’t exactly cover this scenario. (Only Sky as ISP, different ISP or wired)

I even re-enabled WiFi on the SR203. Had a few glitches connecting that initially (wps) only for that to also drop. Other big disadvantage with this is having to rename SSIDS to cope with the different networks. (Er indoors flummoxed etc)

I can reinstate the Ethernet but it's not ideal. I'm sure others in the Community must have configured Q to Asus routers in AP mode.

I think it must be some conflict between channels used by the two routers.
The Asus channels are set to auto but currently connect to 9 and 60 respectively. I think the Q box uses 36 for 5Ghz, so shouldn't be a conflict. Perhaps I should specify 9 and 60 for the Asus?

Have asked Sky forum but it seems to have fallen on stony ground. Also v difficult to get through to anyone at Asus UK

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
