Sky+ question.

I have cancelled my Sky+ contract and currently have it up on the bay for sale. If I decided to keep it though will I still be able to watch and record freeview channels without having to pay subscription?

I know I could just turn it on and see, but I have disconnected it and also I'm currently at work.
 
Not sure abouyt having ended a contract, but i've just plugged in my old original sky box with a viewing card i haven't used for nearly 3 yrs (putting it in the garage for watching as have converted it to a gym), wouldn't show a lot of channels (not sure what are freeview) but got BBC1/2/3/4, ITV1/2/3/4, Channel4 etc all that happened on the non-freeview was that it said 'Card not authorised contact seller'.
 
Phone sky and ask them for a 'Free to air card'
I believe its free, and will enable you to get all the normal freeview channels (generally)

Not sure about the Sky+ aspect though...
 
You can ask sky for a Freesat card for £20 which would give you a few more channels on top of the ones kefkef mentioned already. You would not have any of the Sky+ features though.
 
Sky+ is dependant on a contract, though I believe I've seen it available for £10 a month with a freesat card!?!?! It is however tied to the card so I doubt that offer is still going
 
If you want to use the Sky+ features you've got two choices:

1. It is free with any Sky subscription - so choose the lowest possible monthly subs and the Sky+ features will work.
2. Without any Sky subscription you will need to pay Sky £10 per month to use the Sky+ features.

As said above, to actually get the "Free to Air" channels you will need to call Sky and ask them for a card.
 
Ok, cheers for the help. If I have to pay just to use the recording feature then I don't think I will bother.

Gonna wait until Play TV comes out and have my PS3 as a second PVR instead.
