Hi guys,

I recently decommed my home server running ESXi with PfSense and a BT OpenReach FTTC modem. I half expected the replacement router (Sky) to be "OK" but it is garbage and keeps causing issues, even with light use.

I am visiting on Saturday so would like to grab a replacement that works with Sky.

Is there any easy go-to recommendations?

Visting who on Saturday? Lost me a little if you mean a friend/relative whose house it is, or you mean OcUK shop and getting a router from them? :p

Anyway, have a look at the TP-Link VR600 v3 (£75 if you look online). Or if you want to up the budget a bit, look at the TP-Link Deco X20-DSL for around £128 which also has WiFi 6.

As far as I'm aware, TP Link have a Sky MER VDSL profile on all of their VDSL routers. :)

Haha, visiting my mum - 1 night only. So need to get the kit ordered/delivered before I start my journey. To de-risk the plan I quickly ordered a TP Link VR600 so looks like I did the right thing!

Thank you.

FYI - I swapped out the router yesterday. Literally took about 15 minutes. Worked a treat - remember to not use the mobile site as Sky MER username/password fields don't appear.

Amazingly I also just configured an OpenVPN using the VR600 v3's built in config tool. Took about 30 secs? Very refreshing. Really enjoying TP Link products!

Glad you sorted it. Sky routers are definitely not the best at all.

I've got a few tp-link switches, am pleased with them. Glad the router worked out well for you too.
