Sky Router

Sky dont do Wireless N at the moment. Last time I asked about one they said in testing at the moment and Summer when they're released. Most of them seem to be new style Sagem with a shiny top.

Just got my router today (BB activation on tuesday)

The modem/router i got is a new model, Sagem F@st2304N (looks like the mini HD box)

hooked it up to configure for my activation, It does support wireless N BUT it is only upto 75mbps which seems a bit lame compared to most routers out there.

It also has no gigabit connections.

It's always going to be a low end cheap router that ISPs supply. If you want something better extract your username and password from the Sky supplied and configure your own expensive router with it.

Greetings Folks,

At this point sky use 2 makes of router, Sagem & D-Link
Most new customer should get D-Link.

No new info on the wireless N routers at tihs point, but fingers crossed it should be out later this year.

I just said i got the NEW Sagem F@ST2304N - a wireless N router, seems to me its out now!!

im not the only one, if you google it you will find LOTS of people getting this new router AND having lots of problems.
Seems many of these cheap routers are faulty from the box. hope mine is ok when i get activated otherwise i will not be happy.

Either way i plan on buying a better router next month anyway.

Just checked my brothers connection as he has that router and its not wireless N when you go in to the router then set up then mode only the following is listed :

54g Auto
54g Performance
54g LRS
802.11b Only

Also see the following post from the sky help center,

While the newer Sagem F@ST2304N router appears to be N-rated according to it's model number, we have been advised it is not fully wireless N capable and does not support the full 802.11n specification. Therefore this router is not Wireless N and the Firmware on the router will not support Wireless N connections as the option to set this will not be available.

Its my understanding that wireless G has a max transfer speed of 54mbps.

i can connect wirelessly to my router at 72mbps, not great BUT its still greater than what wireless G can acheive therefore must be N rated... am i wrong in thinking this?

Greetings

Why not login to the router page and check it your self,
The firmwire is not set up for wireless N at this point,
Now i know sky are testing wireless N router but at this stage its only for sky employees and even then a small number of them,
I guess there is very small chance you might have been lucky and one one of the routers that has the new firmware on it but i cant see this being the case and i am sure sky would track these routers very well.

But sure login to the router :
Code:
http://192.168.0.1
Click on set up on the top right and when asked enter
Code:
admin
Code:
sky

You can check what wireless options you have in there.

well just had my line activated today, been in my router again.

there is a '54g Auto' option BUT above that there is an 'Auto' option which states it is for B, G and N
