I rang Sky yesterday and someone is coming out next monday to install skyplus and skytalk. She told me it would be 2 weeks for it to activate then i would have to ring and add skybroadband. Surely it shouldnt take this long? I know other people who have had it installed and it worked straight away

Also post your prices, i said i was with virgin media to try and get the setup costs down and she wasnt having any of it. I know they will get that all the time

Monthly Costs
Sky variety pack £16.50
Knowledge £1
News £1
Music £1
Sky Sports £18
Skytalk line rental £10
Broadband Max £10

Installation
Skytalk £25
Sky £30

Total - £57.50/month
Installation - £55

I'm assuming from your post they're installing a new telephone line?

If so that would explain the wait - once your new telephone is installed (which can take up to 14 days) they'll send you out your new router and set up your broadband which can then take another 14 days. Obviously they cant instal broadband unless you have an active tel line on the premises.

We've just moved house and have signed up for Sky +, talk and broadband. We were advised that the Sky+ would be installed first, then they would then activate the phone line within 7days or so. Once this is active they then send out the wireless gear and I 'think' we'll need to call them to activate the BB.

Our setup/installation costs were the same also.

Can't remember when I got the TV installed it was so long ago. But we had free install on that.

Recently got Sky Broadband (free install), took from the 18th June (BT Line activated) to the 26th June(broadband activated).

Paying £37.50 for TV & Sports pack & £15 for Max Broadband.

thanks all. damn, no home net for a while.

I take it with broadband max they give you a router that is capable of upto 20mb?
Apparently we are near an exchange so im guessing download speeds should be around 2000 - 2500 kbps? (2mb i got >250kbps)

You're stuck with using their POS routers.

...unless you get the details off the device, and use your own ;)

Ok, Sky sent out a company yesterday (air-tel) to install Skyplus. I got back and the box was there but the phone line was not installed. I rang sky and they said they were coming out on the 27th to connect the phone line. They didnt tell me this before, they said Sky and the phone line would be installed on the same date.

Will it take another 2 weeks after the 27th for the line to become active? Then I have to mess around getting the net too?

Also Air-tel have screwed up the installation and we do not receive a lot of the channels we paid for - We dont get ITV, Skysports 1, Discovery or most of the knowledge channels, quite a few sport channels like extra we dont get and quite a few others. I ran through a test with Sky and the signal quality is poor, on the channels it just says 'no satellite signal received' air-tel are coming back this thursday to fix it.

Seems like a bit of a joke that it will take over a month to get broadband up and running.

Hi, i dont know what area you live in but why not give Pennine Plus a ring as i have had all my sky installs from them over the past few years, Though i have now changed from sky to FreeSat HD which I have to say i love, I think their site is currently been updated but I should have contact info on there. www.pennine-plus.com

Just had all my sky stuff installed.

Sky HD £49
Sky + £free
Sky telephone - free for one year
Sky broadband - free

monthly costs - half price sky hd for 3 months - £5
half price sky multiroom for 6 months - £5
Full package with sports and movies at half price for 3 months - £33

paying £43 for everything at the moment, then jumps to £63 in september and then £68 in november.

I had the sky boxes fitted on the 16th june, they fitted the phone line on the 1st July and my broadband was finally switched on Tuesday, theres a 2 week wait between each of them which was annoying, but since its fixed now im happy.

I also got £100 of marks and spencers vouchers (£50 for me and £50 for my dad) for joining up.
