This is on offer at 169 quid at the moment and from what I've read quite a decent bit of kit for the price.

It states to connect sky q to hdmi in then hdmi out to TV. Only other connection is optical and my new xbox doesn't have optical so I'd need to go from TV (LG CX) to optical input then presumably change the input on soundbar when using the xbox. I don't really want to have to do that so was wondering if I could just leave xbox and sky q connected to TV via hdmi then use an optical cable from TV to soundbar?

I've read a few bits on the sky forums but hasn't really cleared it up for me.

Yes, you can.

The reason for the HDMI-thru connection is because the Soundbox supports Dolby Digital Plus audio, but Optical isn't allowed to carry it, only HDMI.

umh - was wondering about one for my parents, but doing some quick research, to find out how the sound can be equalised, father hard of hearing,
seems you have, just a few presets, and some people have this too (no recent firmware update)

parents have a multi-layer shelf where, it could go without having to put tv on the box, apparently that's not allowed.
