Can a Sky SR203 Modem/router be replaced with a VDSL Openreach modem and 3rd party router?

SR203

BT Openreach ECI B-Focus Modem

And do Sky give the login PPPoE details up easily?

Edit. I see sky use DHCP?

So will this be the method...

"It's dynamic DHCPv4, with DHCP Option 61 field filled in with 'anything@skydsl|anything' without the single quotes on the WAN port. DHCPv6 should be set for Prefix delegation dynamic DHCPv6 under IPv6 settings"

Going through this myself at the moment. Been looking at consumer devices really and so far I’ve discovered that it’s pot luck whether a Netgear or TP Link router supports this and ASUS only seems to support it using the open source firmware. Pretty insane really when you consider the price point they’re sitting at with some of these devices.

Looked at the Unifi Dream Router but it doesn’t seem to have a manual so unsure if it supports it or not…

This incorrect information keeps getting spread around. On the vast majority (80% of FTTC lines, all FTTP lines) of the Sky network you only need a router that supports DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation, none of this "MER" stuff, no option 61 etc.
