*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

renew for signature+netflix+sports+HD+UHD was £88.

Told the guy to put me down to signatue+HD. Sky will be getting some comission from netflix for selling it, and as it's no cheaper than going directly, I might as well have some small victory my taking away that commision.

Signature as part of my contract renewal online was £32.50 (£8 of discounts was mention). "sorry sir, I can not see that option, signature is £40.50"

Too much hassle for me to lose sky completely, but leaves a bad taste paying £49.50 a month including HD, when online signature was £32.50...but no way just to renew that alone online.

This HD thing is a total joke.

I'm not sure how sky thinks it's customers feel about the company, surely they know that they are just considered rip-off merchants these days.

I think the more people cancel the sports channels the better.
And I get a call today the guy saying he wants to get my bill down from £107 next month. There was no sign of the £50 sky+hd only agreement on my account. Had to phone a different number for some reason. Anyhow, I caved and went from my existing package @£82 a month, a meger saving of £6 compared to what was offered previously.

Oh how I will enjoy that extra cup of coffee a month

not really about cancellation but didn't want to make a new thread...

we've cancelled sky in my name a while back - oldest bill online shows october 2023 .
just go an email from Sky that my account is in credit..after calling the number they will issue a cheque... in this day and age..a cheque...
i should be asking for intrrests on the account LOL

I've been doing the annual cancel / re-negotiate palaver for some time now, and always have had this thread bookmarked for a bit of reference.

Always have full package and never accept removal of service, any major increase please put a cancellation in etc. etc.

Why it’s a clever marketing technique they add it to huge discounts they give out! In reality I bet hardly anyone pays for HD as it’s always discounted off.
You'd be surprised at the amount of people that pay it without question.

Seems a lot of the conversation with Sky is now pushed to an online chat. I spent ~2hrs going back and forth trying to reduce my cost. In the end reduced down to just TV Essentials - we basically just use Sky as a glorified Freeview box - and then after loads of pushing getting the internet price reduced down with the speed also doubled from 150mbps to 300mbps :)

To me it should be the standard now, it's one of the things that pushed me away from their TV. I still have their broadband, which I really rate. But binned their TV as the family never watched it.

Yeh, I've reduced their Sky TV down to just the minimum which is in truth is basically Freeview. IMHO, their interface is better then any Freeview box, and more importantly, more reliable. I have relatives on Humax and Manhattan boxes, and they're always freezing, or worse still, dying. My Sky+ box is rock solid.

I totally get where your coming from, my family have totally moved away from normal TV and just use streaming services now. The kids just watch YouTube, Netflix and Crunchy roll and never watched Sky. We have other steaming services also, but tend to flick between them apart from Disney, Prime, Neflicks and my NFL game pass. I also get Apple TV free with my bank account, so have plenty to watch.

Ooooh. And that's another thing. If you downgrade to TV Essentials the Sky employee might suggest you get no HD, but that's wrong. All the freeview channels you'd expect to get in HD, you get in HD.

So having renewed my contract in August, I got a phone call today telling me netflix is going up from £4.99 to £7.99.

But they are graciously sending me a new SKY Q 2TB box to replace my existing 1TB box and also supplying a mini-box foc. I'm guessing somewhere that they will try to charge for the mini-box at which point I'll send it back. We don't have a 2nd TV but if it's for free I'll hook the mini-box up to my 32" PC monitor.

free sky cinema for 2 months which will definitely be getting cancelled, it'll give me a chance to check out paramount+

Sky Cinema is terrible and outdated , Ive been a Sky customer over 11 years and its never really changed in all that time , Paramount + is not much better to be honest ... ... ....
