Hello

On the xbox360 there was a sky player app in which I logged into and put the Sky ID number in and was able to watch the sky programs that we had in our sky package.

The app doesn't seem to be available on the xbox one. I have heard people buying cheap sky boxes of certain websites and plugging them in to the xbox one via hdmi in port. In order for me to do this and for it to work ide need to have some kind of aerial or ethernet cable going into the sky box wouldn't I?

The reason I ask is because my xbox one is in my bedroom and I have no aerial cable in my room and my xbox is running wireless.

Thanks

You would need a satellite feed for the sky box.

Have you tried using the xbox one browser to visit the sky player website and seeing if it works that way?

I'd be surprised if it did but worth a shot.

The dish is actually the other side of the wall to my TV.

Going to see how much it is for someone to just bring a cable in from the dish to the back of my TV. Then it should be as simple as buying a sky box second hand and plugging it into my xbox one?

Would I need a viewing card though like the one in my main sky box downstairs?

If you are feeding a sky dish then you really don't need the Xbox. Sounds like you would be better getting a Sky multiroom contract.

Just easier to control it all through one device lol

I did look into the multiroom thing but its an extra £10/£12. I often just watch youtube to be honest and can't justify the £10 extra every month as I might not use it that much every month

The lack of a Sky app might be for the same reason that it's claimed there isn't yet a BBC iPlayer app and that is Kinect.

It's claimed that Microsoft has pretty stringent requirements for Kinect integration of entertainment apps on the Xbox One. Obviously given that u-turn on Kinect, this may have changed now, so hopefully there will be more UK tv apps forthcoming.

There is also the Digital TV Tuner add-on which was recently announced:

Presumably you can use the aerial input/output to run it to the Xbox and control it through that.

First thing for me is to get the Ariel cable added from the sky dish into my room I think then go from there :)
