FTTP has just become available where I am, for the money, £45, Sky's offering seems a good deal.

  • 470 - 515 Mb/s estimated download speed to the hub
  • 58 - 60 Mb/s estimated upload speed to the hub
  • 400 Mb/s minimum guaranteed download speed to the hub

Anything I need to know before signing up? Currently out of contract with Plusnet on 12Mbps

Have a real think where you would like the ONT positioned, now is your chance to have it anywhere. I had mine put under the stairs next to my rackmount cabinet and NAS. You may need to do some preparation as they will only tack the cable along skirting not under floors for instance.

I had mine installed 3 weeks ago, so far can't complain at all! Speeds are superb and they are consistent too.

I can't speak much for the Sky Hub as I used it to confirm it was working after the install while the engineer was there, then plugged in my own setup.

Had a letter about this today from sky coming to my street soon at long last a nice good virtual stick to beat the virgin retentions team with :p, they have had a monopoly around here for 20 years I'm paying £45 for 200mb at present.

@andy_mk3 If possible, I'd love to see a traceroute to any popular anycast address such as "fastly.com", "1.1.1.1", "8.8.8.8".
Thank you.

Sure.

Cheers will do.

Thanks for all the other replies. I'm currently paying £38 for very slow internet so this will be a huge upgrade, I might even consider buying a 4K TV now streaming 4K will be possible.

BT are quoting £44.99 for 500Mbps with a CPI + 3.9% annual rise starting in March 2022.

Virgin are £62 for 500Mbps. Zen are £49.99 for 300Mbps. None are cheap 8f you want a decent speed but on balance Sky seem the best all around.

Will sort you out tomorrow morning mate if that's OK?

Virgins ultimate Omphf thing would get you everything TV and broadband for £79, though Sky internet was superior from a latency perspective when I had it.

Edit, looks like the price has gone up, it is now £99 that is quite a jump even if it is 1Gb.

Yes, thanks, not many cheap options. I don't really need the TV, I have Prime and I just subscribe to other services as and when they have anything worth watching. Virgin seem to like to jack the prices up over time too and speaking to a few friends their service can be a bit patchy depending on your location.

Code sent. There are sometimes issues with hotmail so check your junk and trash folders.

Cheers, gone through the link and ordered, not sure what it discounted, seems to be no set up costs. Sound right? Booked for the 23rd December so just in time for Christmas

Edit: Not the best start, booked for the 23rd, get an email now for the 31st. Can't do that as I'm working. Install the My Sky app, doesn't work. Call them up, "Oh OpenReach will have changed the date". Cba now I'll call them after Christmas to rearrange.
