Just got it installed and to be honest its a nightmare. If I'm lucly I''m get 1Mbps (if luck) Tried speed test an hour ago and it reported back 0.64Mbps! I've moved over from from O2 which wasnt much better but at least one pc didn't gring to a hault when another was switched on

I can't beleive I didn't read the small print of the 12 month contract:(

Is there any get out clause that is known to anyone?... I've have it for 3 weeks. Can't believe I didnt cough up for FTTC

What speed were you given when you took it out. They should have given an indication of what the max speed is. Wont be any get out clause providing there is internet access.

I'll bet this is Sky Connect, which is traffic shaped to hell and back.

Sky LLU is a world of difference. You have 14 days to change your mind, so you're probably stuck with it now.

i'm with Sky and i get 3.89. one time it did drop to 0.89 so Connect sky and in the hour i was back to 3.89

I was told 2.0Mnps

O2 was LLU so I'm under the impression it is to. I'm 1.8m as the crow flies if that's of any use. Stats are if any use...

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 910 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 65.0 dB 39.9 dB
Noise Margin 9.5 dB 11.5 dB

Any ideas?

Best bet might be getting on the blower but I'm not to good on the phone to be honest.

Just got off the phone with BT who said mu line was not up to sped for the full package. However she said they are bring in out a package called Sub 15 for customers like me which would take me up to 14.6Mbps for £26 per month.

Had a look at a Eclipse and its saying my top speed would be also 14.6Mbps?.. stange... also for a wopping £39 per month. IDNet don't offer it and ADSL I'm thinking about. (12 month contract is a bonus? Also £25 a month.

Anyway the nice O2 lady said I've up until the 5 to cancel the order and make a disision.

That's not a line that could ever do 14.6Mbps. It's a long line and is reaching the limits of ADSLs capability. Looks like you could go a tad faster than 910kbps but it might be set there sue to line instability.

Does it make any difference if you connect the router directly to the incoming BT test socket?

How can you cancel with o2 if you have already been with Sky for 3 weeks?

My contract started on the 8th ofifially so she said as long as I give her a bell a good few days befor thr 8th of April all is good.

Not to sure what to do really. I'd love 15ishMbps BB but hate being tied into a long contract with the way work is now. Thing is... £30 with mostly unused mobile contracts finish next month freeing up £30 so it doesn't see like that much of an big commitment as the internet is used 24/7 by 3 people i our house.

-0.3db on SNR, is that even possible?

I'm beginning to wonder if this 15Meg package is just download allowance, rather than actual connection speed.

Your line will not do 15Mbps as you are too far from the exchange.

Fibre to Cabinet is the only way. Or move closer. Or wait until they build a new exchange. Or wait until VM install cable.

You'll never get more than 1Mb with them stats.

At a guess you're around 4km+ from the exchange, on bad copper (or aluminium!) or you have a serious internal wiring problem.
