Skybox Problem

After moving my skybox out of the way for some DIY, i put it back and now the thing just sits in standby and the light flicks off and on (red light) every 15 seconds or so.

I have forced a software download by holding the back up button and turning on, this seemed to work but the problem still exists.

Am i looking at a duff box?

If i buy a Sky+ box, can i run it with one input temporarily. I can organise the second cable at a later date.

yes you can run a sky+ box with one input the second input is only for recording another channel while watching a different one.

Cool, so i got one with a freeview card and its all working tremendously.

Am i right in thinking that i phone up sky to register the box with my proper sky card?

Also, do i have to upgrade to a sky+ account to enable recording/pausing etc... ?

Thats an Amstrad DRX 500 unit.If you're handy with a soldering iron try replacing the caps indicated in the pix can be obtained from elex shops for a few quid.
