So, after upgrading to Win 8.1, I've noticed Skydrive is no longer an option, unless you wish you login using an actual Microsoft account, on the machine.. No longer is it an app as such, but completely integrated into the OS.

And acts almost as file explorer, but using the cloud.

So given, all my machines log in using a local account, and ALL use Skydrive, as it was... and a very handy tool that it was... What happens now? I've not risked using skydrive on 8.1, cos i have NO IDEA, what it'll do to all my other Skydrive clients on Win7...

How will it sync if the file structure has now completely changed? If you can choose ANY file in your machine, to sync to the cloud, from the file itself, rather than dropping it in your skydrive folder (as in how we use to do it the old way)

Skydrive to me was one of the most useful tools for multi pc usage. I use it at work, on my machine that logs into a different domain.. I use it on my laptops, and i use it on my desktop machines.. It seems that I need to either give it up, or upgrade every machine to 8.1..

Unless I'm missing something.

ok, so i login using my Microsoft account (which i do have) but it involves a complicated password... For my laptops, I like a simple life, in that it just boots straight to the desktop. Security isn't an issue.

For my work laptop, i log into a domain, so even though its not particularly a problem for the time being, given my work laptop is still Win7, how would it affect skydrive, given its a domain account, and not my personal microsoft account logging into that machine, if it were Win 8.1?
