Hi guys I'm thinking of retiring my old i5 3570k and Asus maximus v formula (Crap) motherboard, after a windows 10 format the Asus AI suite is no longer supported and my main bios settings for overclocking are missing from the bios, tried a few bios's no luck there (a problem more people have had on the ROG forum with no solution) so with my i5 back at stock/turbo 3.4/3.8 it's a waste of my water cooling, and no support for two 980's on the board it's basically due a change.

Totally out of touch with all the CPU's out there now, haswell, broadwell, skylake, sandy... this 6700 is the new one right? will that be more than enough so there's no bottle necking on high end graphics cards like the 1080, I'm running a gtx980 at present, the main use of the pc is for gaming, but i have started doing a bit of gopro video editing now so if a certain CPU/RAM combo would be better for both speeding up the conversion/export processes i'd go for that.

My 3570k is under a Alphacool cpu water block too if i had to buy a new CPU block that's not really a problem.
 
Honestly I would wait for either Intels Kabylake or Amd's Zen to appear which from what I hear is only a few months away.

+1, now is the worst time I can ever remember to be buying a CPU.

Zen is literally around the corner and is shaping up to me a major shakeup in the industry! Plus Kabylake is here very early January (7700k).
 
using asus maximus v extreme z77 here and AI suite working fine on windows 10 use it for fan control and overclock my i7 3770k to 4.2.

if i was you like above wait for new cpus now.
 
Or, well, some of us who have 2700Ks still plugged in would love an upgrade. Fine if you're always chasing the latest tech, but if you just want a decent upgrade, then you might as well get a decent upgrade.....

Hi Guys, is this deffo gonna happen on the 28th (boxing day 2016)?
I am keen to pull triggers on a setup but obviously happy to hold out on this deal.

Will there be decent amount of stock too? Still not happy going into HMV on a black Friday to discover the game they were promoting they only had 3 copies FFS !!!!!!

word is yes it is going ahead. stock will likely be limited so a first come first serve basis.

just keep an eye on the deals sub forum for it to pop up, last time round it didn't become 'live' till 10am and that was clicking through the forum. those just viewing from the website had to wait till 1pm I believe.

I imagine it will be crazy popular - in fact I should probably stop alerting people to it or I'll end up missing out myself!
