A few of us want to use Skype to speak to each other during gameplay. All the others can hear my game being played over their skype connection, in fact they can hear any sound my pc is playing(music etc.) when we are skyped.

Its probably something to do with my sound config. but I cant work it out.
spec:Realtek onboard sound, Medusa speedlink 5.1 non-usb. The onboard sound is also connected to my Viewsonic TFT but that sound connection is turned off.

any ideas most welcome

Skype's the wrong kind of application for gaming because (last time I checked) it has no "push [key] to talk" option. Possible solution is to use headphones with main speakers off, but they'll still hear a continuous broadcast from yourself (key clicks, unintentional profanity (:D), etc.)

I'd recommend looking into Ventrilo instead which can be set up to only broadcast when you hold a set key. This'll also leave more packet upload for the game itself.

I understand, but why is it I cant hear their pc's or gameplay? BTW I get killed too quickly to swear :)

Maybe they have usb skype mics/headsets or something, where as your skype is running through your soundcard, and bf2 is also running through your soundcard... Maybe they have better soundcard/onboard than you? Could be a lot of reason, what your doing really doesnt make much sense, there are far better solutions.

I have the exact same problem, and the exact same setup as the OP. It didn't use to happen, but when I replaced my medusas with a new non-usb setup, everyone could hear what my PC was doing, regardless of which program I use. I have no idea how to stop this.
